isohexadecane

GHS Classification

GHS classification - isohexadecane
Isohexadecane is a petroleum derivative used in the cosmetics and skincare industries. It is used to prevent moisture loss, provide a creamy non greasy texture, thicken products and acts as a mild degreaser. It can be found in lipsticks and balms, foundations, sun care lotions and make-up remover, deodorants and antiperspirants. Isohexadecane is an isoparaffin, it is fractionated from petroleum. Because of this there is the potential for contamination with 1,4-dioxane, a substance known to contribute to some cancers.
