More About Our Ingredients And Philosophy

by Michael Holloway MSc, BSc Updated 03/05/2021

Peak Soap ingredients philosophy
Peak Soap was founded on my fathers philosophy of helping people in my community. He strongly believed that serving your local community helps to enrich it and this enrichment spreads and helps to raise the quality of life for all members. He was a local doctor; a GP and he was a respiratory specialist who initially served local mining communities here in Derbyshire.

My father promoted the belief that community members ought to work to help other people. In doing so one earns the right to have a job. As you may be able to tell, Peak Soap is a small family business and not a faceless corporate entity. We care about our customers and our priority is to help people improve the quality of their life by offering healthy and natural alternatives to commercially manufactured cosmetics.

We love to support local businesses, communities and artisans in the process of blending our cosmetics. This gives our soap many unique qualities and helps to bolster the business in our area and in turn helps support jobs. If you run a business near us and produce or sell an ingredient that we can use please get in touch! Here are some of the local ingredients that we use in making our natural cosmetics.

Ingredients From The Peak District

Honey

Peak Soap Honey from the peak district
Peak Honey
Peak Honey is a small local family-run beekeeping business with its main apiaries based in Warslow in the heart of the Peak District.

Roper's Honey
Roper's Honey have just over 100 colonies of home fed lovely honey bees spread across the beautiful rural Derbyshire countryside.

Dad's Bees
Dad's Bees honey originates from Derbyshire hives. Their honey contains local pollen from plants growing in the area. Local honey contains minute quantities of pollen from local plants. This makes it great for our hay fever soap!

Water

Buxton Spring Water
Buxton spring water is a natural mineral water from Buxton nestled in the heart of Derbyshire. Buxton water springs from St Ann's Spring, in the Peak District.

Highfield Waters
Fed from gravel beds 220ft beneath the topsoil on the rim of the historic Derbyshire town of Melbourne. Highfield Water is bottled at source using modern bottling techniques.

Herbs And Plants

Wood Sage
Wood sage is a native perennial found in the Peak District. It grows in a wide range of habitats including heaths, woodland, hedgerows, scrub, and sand dunes. When crushed the flowers have a light sage aroma.

Wild Mint
Wild mint can be found in various places all around the Derbyshire region. We use wild mint and mint we grow ourselves in our soap bars.

Lavender
We also grow our own fragrant lavender blossom for use in our soap. We also purchase homegrown lavender blossom from garden centres in Derby, Matlock and Tansley.

Violet Blossom
Our Eucalyptus, Tea Tree and Violet Blossom soap bar is made with fresh and dried violet flower that we grow ourselves right here in our wonderful victorian garden.
