LINK TO BOOK HERE By david holloway bsc, mscShampoo made from natural ingredients is growing in popularity. This is because there is robust evidence that synthetic shampoos are not as effective for your hair as natural products. Synthetic soaps tend to strip the hair of natural oils and try to replace them with products such as palm oil and silicon. They also contain parabens and SLS's which can make eczema worse. However our shampoo soaps may contribute to the growth of new healthier hair. Natural shampoo soaps can make the hair look and feel healthier and natural.
Dr Jason Yip states that natural shampoo may benefit those with a hyperallergenic scalp. However, he warns that oil, dead skin, sweat and hair products may build up. Therefore use enough shampoo from our shampoo bars to reduce the oil build up. Dr Kip only used vinegar and baking soda in his study instead of our shampoo which contains coconut oil, olive oil, macadamia and argan oil and produces much better results. Request a sample and please give it a go. You will save money, help the environment and have much healthier hair! by the peak soap teamMaking your own soap can be a great hobby especially if you are already conversant with the kitchen. There are a lot of great kits around like the sets from Hobbycraft. Hobbycraft in the UK sell melt and pour soap kits that can be heated up and poured into any type of mould. They sell a range of glycerine based soap that is fun for kids and non-toxic. There are now a myriad of fun moulds available online and in the hobby and food shops that can make soap making a constructive past time.
If you want to make more traditional soap you will need a few more things. A question we get asked a lot is do I really need to work with lye (sodium hydroxide) or other chemicals such as potassium hydroxide to make soap? Well, the short answer is yes. The definition of 'real' soap is a product made strictly from animal/vegetable oils and an alkali salt. This is why as you may already know supermarket soap is generally not real soap. It's a synthetic called a syndet or synthetic detergent. by the peak soap teamHi everyone, we are excited to announce after months of work that our brand new range of gentle shampoo bars are now available in the store. After a few set backs and many recipe modifications our shampoo bars are finally here! Unlike a bottle based detergent based shampoo, our shampoo bars do not completely strip away the natural oils of the hair. This unique benefit leaves hair cleaner and with it's natural protective layer intact. Our shampoo cream bars leave hair feeling slightly oily because it is! It's the natural oil from your hair left in place but everything else gleaming clean. Use with a conditioner as normal. The Macadamia nut is great for calming frizzy hair, tangles and dullness. Macadamia is easily absorbed making it a great moisturiser for dry skin. Argan oil is an ancient beauty secret passed down through the great civilisations It helps to hydrate and soften your hair. With its high content of antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamin E the oil helps increase hair's elasticity and shine. People have used olive oil in home remedies for tens of thousands of years. Olive oil is amazing at adding a beautiful and natural long lasting shine, body, and softness to hair and skin. Creamy coconut oil is a natural anti-inflammatory and nourishes the hair with vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids. As well as its amazing lathering qualities, it improves scalp health and supports healthy follicles. We hope you enjoy these great new additions to the store! Categories All Archivesby david holloway bsc, msc“Happiness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give.” ― Ben Carson Psychology researchers Ed O'Brien from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Samantha Kassirer of Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management carried out two related independent studies of giving. They discovered that happiness declined less often or not at all if they repeatedly gave gifts to others as opposed to getting the same gifts themselves. Such behaviours are mediated by chemicals called endorphins. So give something back to the world and you will light up the sky of those around you and your own path to happiness will be easier. Interestingly our mental wellbeing may even be hardwired for giving in the brain as different brain regions are activated when giving and receiving. For example, oxytocin, the 'love' chemical, and serotonin which both create a feeling of warmth such as from a big hug. Be happy and love. By giving one gift you create a happiness cycle, that may trigger more happiness. Gifts are given by animals as well. Male chimpanzees give to females, something done by birds and insects too. Usually the hedonic adaptation (happiness balancer) is responsible for us feeling less happiness every time the same experience event or activity happens. For our brains get accustomed to the best things and want more. So give a gift today! It may make YOU happier than the person in receipt of the gift. For this reason (and for the smell!) I like to use them in quite a few of our soap recipes. The antibacterial activity of cinnamon is due to special bioactive molecules including cinnamaldehyde and eugenol. Cinnamon use in food products and natural cosmetics helps to reduce and deter bacterial degradation and thus to reduce the incidence of infection caused by food and cosmetics. detailsNAME: Cinnamomum verum, Cinnamomum zeylanicum FAMILY: Lauraceae NOTE: Middle AROMA INTENSITY: Strong AROMA: Spicy, warm EXTRACTION METHOD: Steam distilled from the dried inner bark therapeutic propertiesAnalgesic (pain relief), antiviral, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-infectious, antimicrobial, anti-parasitic, reduces bruises, helps remove warts (topical only), helps with morale and courage, up-lifting.
